In September, 22.5 Percent More New Vehicles Sold in Croatia Compared to Last Year

In Croatia, 35,642 new passenger vehicles were sold in the first nine months of this year, which is 4.6 percent less than in the same period last year when 37,392 were sold, while in September alone, 3,397 new vehicles were sold, marking a growth of 22.5 percent compared to September last year, according to data from Promocija plus.

It is worth noting that demand for cars in the European Union increased last month for the first time in just over a year, and in Croatia, the growth was three times higher than at the Union level, as reported by the ACEA manufacturers’ association.

So far this year, Volkswagen has sold the most new vehicles, totaling 4,113, accounting for 11.5 percent of total new car sales. Following Volkswagen is Škoda with 3,434 new vehicles sold and a share of 9.8 percent, and Opel in third place with sales of 3,137 vehicles and a share of 8.8 percent.

Kia holds the fourth place among the most sought-after brands with 2,956 vehicles sold and a share of 8.2 percent, while Dacia is fifth (2,790 and a share of 7.8 percent).

From the golden trio of favorite brands among Croatian citizens, Audi sold 1,289 new cars from January to the end of September, Mercedes sold 959, and BMW sold 867.

The most sought-after model in September was the Škoda Octavia, with 232 units sold, followed by the Opel Crossland with 107 vehicles sold. The Toyota Yaris had 98 buyers, the Renault Clio had 97, and both the Dacia Duster and Hyundai Tucson had 96.

In September, 29 Porsches were also sold, along with one Ferrari, Maserati, and Aston Martin, as well as 10 MGs.

In the first nine months of 2022, gasoline-powered vehicles were the most sought after, with 18,999 sold, or 53.3 percent of total sales, followed by hybrids with 7,166 vehicles sold, or 20.1 percent.

Diesel vehicles ranked third, with 6,956 sold, or 19.5 percent, while gas-powered cars were purchased by 1,551 buyers, accounting for 4.4 percent. Finally, 970 fully electric vehicles were sold in nine months, which is 2.7 percent of total sales.
