The automotive industry profits from high car prices – sales growth next year could be higher than the average of other industries

The automotive industry looks optimistically towards the upcoming 2023, expecting significant sales growth. Top managers in this sector estimate that sales growth next year will be higher than the average of other industries and will be around 7.5 percent, according to a study by the independent consulting firm Horváth, conducted in 18 countries worldwide, including Croatia.

– We are optimistic about the high demand for all types of vehicles, both new and used, and if the bottlenecks in supply chains are reduced, it is realistic to expect high sales growth in the upcoming 2023 of 7.5 percent. However, despite all the difficulties, vehicle manufacturers are achieving high profits this year due to higher sales prices – stated Maria Boldor from the consulting firm Horváth in a statement.

The automotive industry has rapidly recovered after the pandemic, with above-average sales growth of 15.5 percent already recorded in 2021. The continuation of such explosive growth has been hindered by supply chain issues, but the increase in car prices has allowed the industry a relatively comfortable position.

– The lack of materials, especially semiconductors, negatively affects sales, so this year only a sales growth of 5 percent is expected, which is significantly lower compared to other industrial sectors – emphasized Boldor.

Due to all this, cost optimization, as well as revenue, remains high on the priority list of managers in the automotive industry, who continue to accelerate work on digital transformation, environmental sustainability, and e-mobility.
