Twitch, a platform for video streaming, gaming content (GVC), and entertainment, has announced that it will ban content and channels related to betting and gambling. As broadcasters of such content on Twitch have become increasingly popular, users decided to raise a rebellion and request the platform to eliminate this type of content. The platform decided to listen to them, leaving a number of streamers without income, such as Tyler Faraz 'Tranwreck' Niknam, who used to earn a million dollars a month from partnerships with casinos and companies in the gambling industry.
The team from the platform realized that by supporting this industry, they were promoting unhealthy habits and also opening the door to fraud. As they stated to the media, starting from October 18, a ban on streaming content related to gambling, such as dice games, roulette, and similar, will take effect, while sports betting and poker will still be allowed on the platform.
