At the closed part of today’s Government session, a Conclusion was adopted proposing to the Supervisory Board of INA – Industrija nafte d.d. the appointment of Miroslav Skalicki, PhD Hrvoje Šimović, and Emanuel Kovačić as members of the Management Board of the company, until the procedure for the appointment of Management Board members is completed, and for a maximum period of six months, according to the Government’s statement.
Miroslav Skalicki is an oil expert who served as the general director of Shell in Croatia from 1998 to 2003. He then was responsible for Shell’s operations at the Mediterranean and European level in Milan. After leaving Shell, he founded his own consulting company, Peti kvadrant.
Hrvoje Šimović is a professor at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb at the Department of Finance. Emanuel Kovačić is the current director of regulatory and public affairs at INA, and previously he was the head of legal affairs at Cemex.
The economist, oil expert, and lawyer will join the Management Board of INA instead of Niko Dalić, Barbara Dorić, and Darko Markotić – three Croatian members of the Management Board who were asked to resign after the company was damaged by about one billion kuna in the resale of gas produced in Croatia, but they did not submit their resignations as this would leave them without severance pay.
As reported today by Jutarnji list, the Supervisory Board of INA will deny them severance pay, citing provisions of the Companies Act that provide for this in cases of serious breaches of duty and loss of trust.
