We Drove the Audi A8 60TFSI Quattro L: Luxury and Enjoyment on Four Wheels

Driving  Audi A8 60TFSI Quattro L, one of the most expensive cars in Croatia, one cannot help but wonder whether it is better to be the driver or the one enjoying all the possible premium features available in this car from the back seat. The right rear seat, the so-called director’s seat, could also be called the premier or presidential seat, offers all the luxury you can imagine. From the television located on the back of the passenger seat (there is, of course, one on the driver’s seat as well) to massage for the back, shoulders, and even feet, to the climate-controlled and, of course, heated seats, tables that slide out from the center console  and the control panel between the seats with which you can manage all media and Infotainment content, as well as the shades, heating, and interior lighting.  There is also a wireless phone charger and several USB ports. Additionally, at the bottom of the center console in the back, there is a 230V socket for charging laptops, gaming consoles, and even mobile phones.

Guaranteed Privacy

Of course, there are also shades on the side and rear windows if you want a bit of privacy  as well as acoustic glass that prevents all  unnecessary noise  from the outside. That right rear  director’s seat has precedence over the passenger seat, so if someone in the back seat decides to move the passenger seat forward, which is done by pressing a button on the door,  to massage their tired feet, the passenger cannot do anything. The control is at the back seat, and that is really fine in such a car. Not to forget, on the back seat, more precisely between the two seats  there is also a small refrigerator just in case, which does not significantly affect the size of the trunk, which is quite large and can hold two one-liter bottles and an additional compartment for cans and glasses.

The materials in the car are all from the premium class, so the interior is adorned with high-quality Valetta leather with minimal use of lacquer, aluminum details, while the door trims are filled with microfiber, making them feel like gentle carpets.

Audi has thought of everything when it comes to this car, so if and when you want to get out of it, it will gently lift off the ground to facilitate your exit, so you don’t have to strain too much.

Aromatized Interior

When we move to the driver’s seat, the first thing that catches the eye is that when starting the car, the climate control covers open, which looks really impressive, and if you repeat the same action in the dark, you will be delighted by the Audi light signature that will appear before your eyes. The front lights are Matrix in LED technology where each headlight has LED modules  that adjust the light beam according to surrounding conditions and navigation data by turning on, off, and dimming the LEDs, optimally illuminating the road at all times.

For the driver, there is, of course, a heated steering wheel, heated armrests, and climate-controlled seats just like in the back of the car.

The infotainment system is not of the latest generation, but that really doesn’t matter much as it is quite simple to use once you grasp all the ‘tricks’ and nuances. And once you get the hang of it, you will realize that Audi has the option of aromatizing the car’s interior with ionized air with two scent options – summer and winter, both of which smell very nice as the air passes through an activated carbon filter.

In terms of safety, there is Audi pre sense front and back which recognizes other vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists using an infrared camera and warns the driver if there is a danger of collision. If the driver does not react as they should, Audi will brake itself to avoid or mitigate the consequences of a collision. Pre sense rear, on the other hand, recognizes an unavoidable rear-end collision, so if that happens, it adjusts the seats and belts to an optimal position to minimize the impact for the occupants inside the vehicle. There is also a traffic sign recognition system that is helpful when crossing speed bumps as the system recognizes the obstacle and the predictive suspension raises the car to make crossing the bump as smooth and gentle as possible.

Turning on All Fours

And considering that this is a large car, longer than five meters, for those less skilled, there is also a parking assistance package, so after programming your A8, it parks itself in the selected spot. Also, the length of the car does not affect its maneuverability and turning as this Audi turns with all four wheels, so even small and narrow streets are not a problem for this premium car.

When we talk about the exterior appearance of the new Audi, it should be noted that this is the fifth refreshed generation of the A8, with minimal changes in the visuals. The front grille is larger than in the previous generation, adorned with chrome details, the side line remains the same as before, while the front lights are new, Matrix projection, as well as the rear lights that are connected by a LED strip and chrome line.

Enormous Power

This car is powered by a gasoline V8 engine with 460 horsepower that reaches 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, while its maximum speed is limited to 250 kilometers per hour, and the same engine powers the top model S8, Porsche Cayenne, and Panamera GTS, as well as the super sports Lamborghini Urus.

There is also a V6 TDI engine with 286 horsepower, a gasoline V6 with 340 horsepower, and a plug-in hybrid with 462 horsepower available. The declared consumption of the driven Audi  A8 60TFSI Quattro L is between 12 to 13 liters, although the actual consumption is much higher, especially on city roads, but as if that is of crucial importance for such a car and its driver.

The price of the tested model with full equipment is 1,782,500.73 kuna. It’s not small, but it’s worth it.
