MK Group and AIK Bank Donate 100,000 Euros for Croatian Pregnant Women

As part of the regional project 'Support for Families' MK Group and AIK Bank are making donations to seven maternity hospitals in five countries of the Adriatic region where they operate. For the project aimed at supporting measures for increasing birth rates and family policy, they have allocated a total of 700,000 euros. In Croatia, the amount of 100,000 euros was donated to the maternity hospital of the Clinical Hospital Center Sisters of Mercy in Zagreb, where around 3,000 babies are born each year. The donation has provided the most modern ultrasound device that will now be used to examine pregnant women and new mothers.

– I am pleased that the Clinical Hospital Center Sisters of Mercy and our Clinic for Women’s Diseases and Obstetrics are part of a commendable regional donor project initiated by MK Group and AIK Bank. The ultrasound device, valued at one hundred thousand euros, which we received as a gift as part of the project 'Support for Families', will certainly improve the care for the health of our pregnant women and new mothers. Thank you to the donors because this gesture shows that it is our common task to care for future generations in all countries of this part of Europe – said Prof. Dr. Davor Vagić, director of KBC Sisters of Mercy, and thanked the donors.

– Family has been the focus of our group since its inception. That is why we systematically approach this topic and implement numerous socially responsible activities aimed at children, youth, and supporting parents. In the entire region, around 140,000 babies are born each year, and our desire is to contribute to improving the conditions in which mothers bring them into the world – stated Aleksandra Stojanović, director of corporate affairs at MK Group.

The project 'Support for Families' was expanded last year with donations to maternity hospitals, and it is otherwise a traditional program for employees jointly implemented by MK Group and AIK Bank. Over the five years of the project, more than 700 families and 1,150 babies of employees have been rewarded.

– We are very pleased that we have expanded our program 'Support for Families' with donations to maternity hospitals. In this way, we support not only the families of our employees but also future parents in the countries of the Adriatic region and want to show that we are with them in such a significant and special moment as the birth of a child – emphasized Mario Henjak, CEO of Gorenjska Bank, on behalf of the banking group.

In addition to KBC Sisters of Mercy, donations from MK Group and AIK Bank under the 'Support for Families' program are being made to six other maternity hospitals in the region – in Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. In these hospitals, a total of around 16,000 babies are born each year who will come into the world in better conditions thanks to these donations.
