The Croatian Transmission System Operator will invest 1.6 billion kuna by 2026 in the revitalization, construction, digitalization, and modernization of the Croatian transmission electricity network. Namely, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development announced in July a call for direct allocation of non-repayable funds to a predetermined beneficiary in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, HOPS, which submitted a project proposal within the stipulated deadline and is currently in the allocation process.
The aforementioned amount, according to the NPOO, is intended for the enhancement of the high-voltage network (220/110 kV), specifically strengthening capacity in southern Croatia, connecting the south and north of Croatia, and linking six large islands to the mainland.
According to data provided by the Ministry of Economy, this project will revitalize or construct a total of approximately 673 kilometers of power lines.
The project consists of 11 components: increasing the transmission capacity of the 220 kV Konjsko-Brinje line (210.6 km), revitalization of the 220 kV Senj – Melina line (51 km), replacement and expansion of network transformers 400/220 and 220/110 kV at the Konjsko substation, construction of a new 110 kV facility and a new network transformer at the Velebit substation, construction of a new 110 kV facility at the Dubrovnik hydroelectric power plant, revitalization and increase of transmission capacity of the 110 kV Ston – Rudine – Komolac line, construction of a new 2×110 kV power line from Bilice – Trogir, replacement and increase of transmission capacity on 12 power lines (110 kV) which will create additional energy evacuation capacities to enhance the integration of renewable sources into the transmission electricity system, a program for replacing submarine cables connecting 6 islands to the mainland network, HOPS DATA HUB, and modernization of the asset management system.
