VELUX Group Appoints Lars Petersson as New CEO Replacing David Briggs

VELUX Group Appoints Lars Petersson as the New CEO Replacing David Briggs, who has decided to retire. Lars Petersson is currently the President and CEO of Hempel, and he will join VELUX on November 1, 2022. Anders Götzsche, the Chief Financial Officer of VELUX, will serve as the interim CEO until then.

Lars Petersson comes from the position of President and CEO at Hempel, a global company based in Denmark that belongs to the construction industry. Before joining Hempel, Lars Petersson held top executive positions at Inwido, a Swedish manufacturer of doors and windows, and at Tarkett, a leading French manufacturer of parquet and flooring. Lars Petersson has been a board member at VKR company Dovista since 2019.

– Lars Peterson has extensive experience and an excellent reputation gained from working for years in global manufacturing companies in related industries. Under his leadership, Hempel successfully implemented an ambitious growth strategy with a clear focus on customers, as well as a clear strategy to be leaders in sustainable business. I am confident that Lars Petersson is the right person to lead the continuous development of VELUX – stated Jørgen Jensen, Chairman of the Board of VELUX Group.

Lars Petersson is Swedish, 53 years old, lives in the Copenhagen area with his wife Annica, with whom he has two adult children.

David Briggs Retires from VELUX

After five years at the helm of VELUX Group, David Briggs will step down as CEO in September. 

 – David has had a successful career at VELUX lasting nearly 30 years, and under his five-year leadership as CEO, the success story of VELUX has continued and gained momentum. I am sorry to see him go, but I fully respect his wish to spend more time with his family – said Jensen.

– Together with the management and a strong executive management team, David has established an exciting strategy aimed at achieving significant growth by 2030 and true leadership in sustainability within the construction sector. We remain fully committed to the core principles of that strategy – added Jensen.

Since 2018, we have achieved results that we can all be proud of – results that greatly exceed what many thought possible. The reason for this is the dedication of my colleagues, as well as our partners, suppliers, and of course, customers – stated CEO David Briggs.
