Ravil Maganov, the head of the second largest Russian oil producer Lukoil, died on Thursday after falling from a hospital window in Moscow, a source close to the family said.
So far, there has been no comment from Lukoil, Reuters adds.
Maganov had been with Lukoil since 1993, overseeing its refinery, production and research. He became the head of the company in 2020. His brother Nail Maganov is at the helm of the medium-sized Russian oil producer Tatneft.
Ravil Maganov was a close associate of one of Lukoil’s founders, Vagit Alekperov.
Additionally, the company stated back in March on Lukoil’s official website that they were concerned about the tragic events in Ukraine and supported negotiations to end the conflict while the company’s supervisory board called for an immediate ceasefire.
