Although it premiered 'back' in 1989, Seinfeld is still regarded as one of the most successful series in television history, managing to attract not only older, nostalgic viewers but also younger generations. Specifically, the research company Nielsen reported that as much as 41 percent of the show's viewers on the streaming service Netflix are under 34 years old, and in the first month of its re-airing (October 2021), it achieved 595 million minutes of viewing.
This remarkable success of the cult series prompted Julie Tremaine and Brendan Kirby to prepare the first official Seinfeld cookbook for both old and new fans, which contains 60 recipes inspired by the series.
Popular Dishes
As reported by HypeBeast, the cookbook includes recipes for dishes that the unforgettable characters of the series talked about the most, joked about the most, and consumed – whether in Jerry's kitchen or at Monk's diner. For example, recipes for black-and-white cookies, 'Big Salad', shrimp cocktails, various types of babkas, and, of course, soups, as well as desserts with 'Mackinaw' peaches, a fictional variety of peaches praised by Cosmo Kramer, can be found.
As the authors note, the recipes can be prepared by experienced amateur chefs, as well as less skilled cooks, since each recipe is accompanied by precisely explained steps and culinary tips. Seinfeld: The Official Cookbook is already available for order via Amazon at a price of $30, and official sales (shipping) begin on October 11.
