Athletics is coming to the heart of Zagreb!
With this unprecedented sports spectacle, athletics is moving from the stadium to the city center, to Ban Josip Jelačić Square. As part of this year’s 72nd Boris Hanžeković Memorial, the Zagreb City Challenge on Friday, September 9 at 4 PM will bring the athletic jumping elite, from where images of top men’s long jumps, pole vaults, and women’s triple jumps will reach over 130 countries worldwide. The fan atmosphere, attractive jumps, and entertainment program will place the queen of sports at the center of attention in Zagreb, providing visitors of all generations with a unique sports, tourist, cultural, and social experience.
Those who want to be part of this historic spectacle will certainly not miss the Zagreb City Challenge, which will turn the main square of Zagreb into an athletic highlight for one day. This event, which will be talked about for a long time, will ensure that Zagreb is recorded as a desirable tourist and sports destination, joining cities that host athletic attractions in the very center, such as competitions at the main station in Zurich, the Golden Roof Challenge in Innsbruck, and the city center of Lausanne.
The Boris Hanžeković Memorial – WA Continental Tour Gold meeting this year brings three days of top athletics. Alongside the Zagreb City Challenge, on September 10, you can expect Athletic Kids Day in Maksimir Park, a 3 km race, as well as the Ivan Ivančić Memorial, an attractive evening shot put at the city fountains, and the following day, September 11, the traditional athletic meeting at Mladost Stadium for which tickets are on sale.
