What Happened This Morning with Facebook’s News Feed

If you opened Facebook this morning and instead of the usual news feed saw a bunch of spam posts on the walls of celebrities, you are not alone. Facebook faced a bizarre glitch for several hours that filled users’ news feeds with posts from celebrity profiles.

A large number of users complained about the same issue – their main news feed was overwhelmed with fan posts on the pages of celebrities like Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, and Ed Sheeran.

However, users quickly took advantage of this Facebook bug and began intentionally posting memes on the walls of celebrities, knowing that everyone following that celebrity would see the post, reports The Verge.

In addition to memes, users started sharing links to their TikTok and Instagram profiles with a call to follow them, and there were also those who simply seized the moment and posted whatever came to mind first.

On DownDetector, where users report website issues themselves, a huge spike in the number of problem reports was observed today from 7:30 AM to about 10:30 AM, which can also be read in numerous comments below. By noon, the number decreased, and Facebook’s standard news feed was back to normal.
