It seems that the probably most popular video viewing network is introducing news. According to The Wall Street Journal, YouTube has allegedly been working for a year and a half on developing an online store where users will be able to purchase subscriptions to various streaming services.
The Journal also states that YouTube sees this service as a good way for streaming services to promote their content, and the store will function by allowing users to watch trailers for free on YouTube, and then, if they decide to subscribe to a particular streaming service, they can do so on YouTube’s pages.
They also mention that YouTube is already in negotiations with potential partners, and that they will very likely have to share revenue with YouTube, which is already considering how to split subscription revenues. Although this popular network in the United States already offers the option to subscribe to streaming TV that gives users access to other additional services like HBO Max, such a service will open up space for new collaborations.
Jeffrey Hirsch, CEO of Starz, told The Journal that the merging of streaming services creates a better experience for users, as well as presenting streaming services to a larger audience. This new service should be available to YouTube users in the fall.
