Tourist Tickets for Seven Natural Beauties of Lika Aim to Support Local Family Farms

This year, for the fifth consecutive year, tickets for the so-called ‘Lika destination‘ have been offered. This is a group ticket for visiting several natural tourist attractions in Lika that, according to the director of the Plitvice Lakes National Park Tomislav Kovačević, pleasantly surprise visitors every season.

This ticket covers seven natural beauties of Lika, including the Plitvice Lakes National Park, the Northern Velebit and Paklenica National Parks, the Velebit Nature Park (Zavratnica Cove and Cerovačke Caves), Baraćeve Caves, the Grabovača Cave Park near Perušić, as well as two centers – the Nikola Tesla Memorial Center in Smiljan and the Croatian Center for Indigenous Fish and Crustaceans of Karst Waters.

The number of tickets for this tourist tour is limited to one thousand copies, and instead of 720 kuna per person for all the mentioned contents individually, one ticket for adults costs 490 kuna, while for children aged seven to 18 years it costs 335 kuna.

It is interesting to mention that in 2018, when this offer first came into effect, the ticket for adults was 300 kuna, and for children, it was 200 kuna. Also, last year, the ticket for adults was 350 kuna, and for children, it was 250 kuna.

As Kovačević stated, this is an acceptable offer, and the price difference is present due to the poor pandemic years.

– The goal is to brand Lika as a tourist destination of natural beauty – said Kovačević, emphasizing that Lika as a destination has a number of natural phenomena, but although it is a tourist promotion, the whole point is to retain tourism while also opening numerous family farms that will offer and sell their products to tourists and thus profit.

This is, among other things, the reason for such an increase in ticket prices for the ‘Lika destination’.

And while Lika, along with Istria and Mali Lošinj, has been on the Top 100 list of sustainable tourist destinations in the world for two consecutive years, as stated by the director of our most visited national park, Lika as a tourist destination connects three Croatian counties and should be discussed in economic terms precisely because of their own quality label.
