In IT, knowledge sharing is valued, and Netokracija will amplify the word about Infobip’s

Since Ivan Burazin took over the Developer Experience department at Infobip in the first half of last year, at the moment when Infobip acquired the developer conference Shift, he wanted Infobip to turn even more towards developers. Just like Shift, the acquisition of Netokracija aligns with their strategy of entering and expanding in the B2D (business to developer) segment, which they recognized as a significant potential.

Having quickly realized that B2D business alongside conference content also involves creating content for developers such as articles, guides, news, and podcasts, Netokracija’s team of journalists found themselves as a ‘natural fit’ in Burazin’s department, but also in Infobip in general. With their knowledge and experience in writing about and for developers, and thanks to a decade-long collaboration with Infobip, Netokracija has become part of the Infobip Group.

—– Our team is developing a range of things, from Software Development Kits (called SDK’s), documentation, test applications to organizing their conferences like Infobip Shift, meetupova, representing Infobip at other conferences around the world, and this most recent one – creating developer content. And this is where we now step in, empowered by Netokracija’s team and their vast knowledge and experience – explains Burazin, adding that Infobip has a series of activities aimed at the developer community planned until the end of the year.

However, although developer-focused business may initially seem outside of Infobip’s ‘core business’, Burazin emphasizes that similar moves are being made by other companies that want to get closer to them.

– We are currently in a situation where it is necessary to think ‘out of the box’ to achieve global reach. For this reason, the department I lead, called Developer Experience, was created – adds Burazin.

On the other hand, the founder of Netokracija Ivan Brezak Brkan will be Infobip’s director for developer content. Along with Tena Šojer Keser and Marko Mudrinić, he will lead a team that will create web, blog, video, and podcast content for the developer audience.

—– We know exactly what kind of developer content they want and we know how to collaborate with developers, resulting in quality formats. That is why I am particularly proud that not only the leadership but the entire team continues to work on the project and expansion – says Brezak Brkan, whose task will be to align the team with the entire organization, as well as internal and external collaborators, but he admits that his biggest challenge will be learning how to operate in a large organization since they have been a smaller team until now.

Contribution to the Community

Netokracija’s collaboration with Infobip, among other projects, manifested in the creation of Infobip’s global Engineering handbook, which they produced, while Brezak Brkan held workshops on writing technical blog posts with developers. Following that, as well as the Developer blog to which they also contributed, they will continue to work with Infobip’s developers, product managers, and designers to showcase and share their knowledge. Brezak Brkan notes that in the tech industry, unlike many other industries, knowledge sharing is highly valued.

– In this way, you not only help the advancement of your profession, but you also facilitate finding business partners and even new team members. In fact, most tech giants have built their platforms on open source technologies contributed by the community, and the Croatian tech industry has learned from, for example, technical posts by colleagues from the USA. Knowledge sharing is valued, and we are the editors who will help amplify the word about Infobip’s – concludes Brezak Brkan.

However, despite the acquisition and the new roles of journalists and editors, Netokracija will continue its recognizable work. Within the Infobip Group, it will still operate through an independent editorial office.

– As a media portal in Croatia and Serbia, Netokracija will focus even more on the startup and developer scene, which we will now have resources to support even better. The content will continue to be authored, original, and led by our editor-in-chief Mia Biberović – explained Brezak Brkan.

In fact, this acquisition will also serve as a boost for Netokracija’s expansion in the region and the world, which has been their plan from the very beginning. They will develop content for the global developer community in English.

– We certainly will not do a copy-paste of Netokracija, even though we have Netocratic.com in English, but the content will differ. We will definitely try some new formats, but we will also stick to everything we know about developers and their formats, such as Netokracija Podcast and Office Talks. Personally, I am most excited about testing formats that we haven’t had the opportunity to use much in Croatia and the region, such as Twitter for the so-called DevTwitter community or video essay formats for YouTube that are a hit abroad – added Brezak Brkan.
