The popular platform Instagram has announced that it is expanding its subscription program through which creators can monetize their content and generate revenue. Since January of this year, when the program was first introduced, creators on Instagram have been able to ‘lock’ the content they publish in Lives and Stories, and now they can also monetize Reels, Posts, and Chats, thus creating more content that is exclusive to subscribers. Additionally, they have set the subscription amount to not exceed 100 dollars per month.
Stable Revenue
As explained by Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri via social media, with the help of subscriptions, creators can achieve stable revenue, while fans receive exclusive content from the individuals whose work they love and follow. According to him, around ten thousand creators have already joined the program, and their subscription posts are marked with a purple label (exclusive for subscribers).
When it comes to the ‘chatting’ option, creators can create a group with up to 30 subscribers that automatically deletes after 24 hours. Also, subscribers will be able to separate a ‘feed’ with exclusive content and content intended for all subscribers. Instagram will not take a percentage from creators, at least until 2023, but after that period, if a sufficient number of creators join the program, it is likely they will want to earn some dollars from subscription content.
