The lack of mercy among leading fashion houses is evidenced by the dispute between giants Dior and Valentino, which will likely end in a lawsuit, as is often the case. Due to the fashion show held by Valentino in Rome, interested customers were unable to enter Dior’s boutique because the organizers physically blocked the entrance.
A-list stars like Anne Hathaway, Kate Hudson, and Naomi Campbell attended the show unaware that a drama was unfolding behind the scenes between the organizers and Italian vendors who complained that Valentino’s event left their stores empty for hours.
Damage of 100 thousand dollars
Not holding back, Dior sent Valentino a warning letter stating that they would take all legal measures if Dior did not pay 100 thousand euros in damages within 15 days.
According to WWD, stores near the famous Spanish Steps were informed that a show would take place in their neighborhood and were promised that it would not disrupt business. However, Dior claims this is not true and that they indeed went several hours without customers.
The famous fashion ‘policeman’ from Instagram, Diet Prada, has labeled this move as nitpicking, especially considering that last year the Dior SA group earned 64 billion euros, while Valentino achieved significantly less – 1.2 billion euros.
