BAT Initiates Collaboration with Educational Institutions

BAT’s factory in Kanfanar has initiated collaboration with three faculties: Technical Faculty of Pula, Technical Faculty of Rijeka, Istrian Polytechnic in Pula, and four  Istrian vocational high schools from Rovinj, Pula, Pazin, and Buje. The collaboration will enable internships, experience exchange, and joint work  on various projects.

– “We are extremely pleased to initiate collaboration with Istrian educational institutions and see them as an important part of BAT’s global ESG strategy, which promotes sustainability and responsible business through our contribution to the local community. This collaboration will provide young people with additional education and development and give them the opportunity to one day start working in a multinational company,” stated Tamás Nyaka, Director of Operations BAT Adria.

BAT has successfully collaborated with educational institutions on various projects for many years. This includes various forms of internships and student practices, organizing factory visits, career days initiatives, employer/student speed dating, and many others.

– At the Technical Faculty of Pula, partnership with the economy is extremely important, and we are proud of this collaboration with BAT. We collaborate with the local economy in educating students within the framework of professional practice courses, invited lectures by industry experts, visits to local companies, and collaboration in the preparation of final theses of interest to the economy – emphasized the Dean of the Technical Faculty of Pula, Dr. Bernard Franković.

The Technical Faculty of Pula, the Technical Faculty of Rijeka, and the Istrian Polytechnic in Pula have long been enabling students to undertake internships through collaboration with companies, which is a crucial part of their positioning towards the wider community.  

The Dean of the Istrian Polytechnic in Pula, Dr. Daglas Koraca emphasized: – A key segment of the educational process at the Istrian Polytechnic is professional practice, which is conducted as a separate course. Through it, students are enabled to complete the practical part of their education in renowned companies from the region, which allows students to acquire concrete and applicable knowledge and skills necessary for entering the labor market. As part of the collaboration with BAT, students will have the opportunity for the first time to visit the company and familiarize themselves with business and production processes – 

In Kanfanar, significant investments are made in the education and development of all employees; last year alone, more than 12,000 man-hours were spent on training and education. The factory is now a unique center of knowledge about heated tobacco products, where employees have the opportunity to learn about new technologies and advance in such an environment. BAT employs more than 1,500 people in Croatia, and thanks to constant investments in increasing production and exports, it continuously increases the number of jobs.
