Swiss Air Traffic in ‘Security Problems’

Security issues seem to be becoming an increasingly common concern for numerous companies, including those specialized in security. Skyguide, a company responsible for monitoring Swiss airspace and flight control, has encountered problems caused by a technical error or a hacking attack, resulting in flights to and from Switzerland being suspended for hours yesterday morning, and the Swiss airspace being closed.

Although flights were later resumed, as reported by the BBC, speculation continues as to whether the traffic closure was due to a computer failure in the flight control service or a hacking attack.

The company stated that the problems arose for 'security reasons', and their spokesperson explained that the issue was likely caused by a hardware malfunction and that they do not believe their system was hacked.

Security Attacks

However, while it has not been confirmed why the 'security problems' occurred, hacking attacks have recently become a more frequent topic. At the end of last year, German insurer Allianz warned that, in addition to companies, supply chains could soon be targeted by hackers, and among the attacks that occurred last year was the one that blocked the IT system of the American pipeline system Colonial Pipeline.

Then, in April of this year, the official Instagram account of Bored Ape Yacht Club was hacked, resulting in the theft of over $2.8 million worth of NFTs from users who had linked their Ethereum wallets.

It is worth noting that in Croatia, we have also seen some 'attacks' on security recently. In February, a hacking attack on A1 was recorded, in which the data of 100,000 A1 Croatia users was compromised.
