Fina: blocked accounts of 236.4 thousand citizens, total debt of 18.5 billion kuna

At the end of May this year, there were blocked accounts of 236.4 thousand citizens in Croatia, with a total principal debt of 18.5 billion kuna, as well as 15.2 thousand business entities, whose principal debt amounted to 4.4 billion kuna, according to data published today by Fina.

At the end of May, due to unfulfilled payment bases, 236,361 consumers were recorded in the register of payment bases, which is 0.7 percent less than in the previous month and 0.3 percent less than a year ago.

The principal of their debt of 18.5 billion kuna was 94.1 million kuna or 0.5 percent less than in April of this year, and 1.1 billion kuna or 6.4 percent higher compared to May 2021.

According to Fina’s data, when the principal of 18.5 billion kuna is added to the debt from interest amounting to 6.6 billion kuna, the total debt of citizens with blocked accounts at the end of May amounted to 25.1 billion kuna.

Fina emphasized that the largest part of the debt, amounting to 5.6 billion kuna (excluding interest), related to consumer debt to banks as creditors, while the total debt to all financial institutions amounted to 6.4 billion kuna.

At the end of May this year, 15,154 business entities were recorded in the register of payment bases, which is 101 business entities or 0.7 percent less compared to April, and 273 business entities or 1.8 percent less compared to May 2021.

The principal of their debt amounted to 4.4 billion kuna, which is 124.7 million kuna or 2.8 percent less compared to April, and 236.4 million kuna or 5.1 percent less compared to last May.

The debt from interest amounted to 1 billion kuna, so the total debt of business entities at the end of May amounts to 5.4 billion kuna.

Fina’s data shows that among the enforced business entities, there are slightly more individuals performing registered activities (craftsmen), while legal entities prevail in terms of amounts.

Thus, at the end of May, overdue unfulfilled payment bases were recorded for 6,830 legal entities with a principal debt of 3.1 billion kuna. When interest amounting to 648.2 million kuna is added, the total debt of legal entities amounted to 3.7 billion kuna.

Blocked accounts at the end of May were also held by 8,324 individuals performing registered activities, and their total debt amounted to 1.7 billion kuna, of which 1.3 billion kuna relates to the principal and 398.9 million to interest.
