Neuroth Celebrates 10 Years of Operation in Croatia and 115 Years of Establishment in Austria

The Austrian company Neuroth hearing aids marked 10 years of its presence in Croatia with a ceremonial event for around a hundred guests featuring a performance by the music diva Radojka Šverko. The gathering was also an opportunity to reflect on the very beginnings of the Neuroth company 115 years ago in Austria, as well as the current position of individuals with hearing impairments in Croatia.

– 115 years of Neuroth in Austria and 10 years in Croatia is teamwork, and none of this would be possible without the people who provide quality that carries the Neuroth name through an individual approach to each ear. It is an exceptional honor to be part of the Neuroth family, to be part of a group that from its beginnings not only provides access to the most modern achievements in the field of hearing acoustics but also encourages the development of hearing aids based on experience working with individuals facing hearing impairments, said Peter Jagodič, Regional Director of Neuroth for Southeast Europe.

Excellence is what Neuroth has pursued since its inception and has irrevocably changed the field of hearing acoustics and the approach to users not only in Croatia but throughout Europe over the past 115 years. However, during the 10 years of operation in Croatia, numerous changes have occurred, not all of which have been for the better, emphasized Iva Franić, Director of Neuroth hearing aids. In Croatia, there have been several instances during this period of diminishing rights for individuals with hearing impairments.

– The process began with the abolition of the right to batteries through allowances for users of aids, followed by raising the limit for renewing devices from five to seven years. The last and perhaps the hardest blow, purely due to the far-reaching effects, is the reduction of the allowance value for hearing aids. Medical professionals today are those whose opinions cannot and must not be subordinated to administrative opinions. Despite the difficult conditions, Neuroth remains committed to its business philosophy with the obligation to maintain the basic quality of products and services, especially for the most vulnerable economic groups of users, and continues to provide top-notch service and products to those clients who expect it from us, emphasized Iva Franić, Director of Neuroth for Croatia.

Neuroth is dedicated to promoting the improvement of the status of individuals with hearing impairments, which consequently leads to a significant improvement in quality of life. One of the initiatives is the prescription and use of two hearing aids, as this provision is already a standard in other European Union countries. This initiative is supported by the president of the Croatian Society for Audiology and Phoniatrics and the elected president of the European Society for Audiology for the term 2023 to 2025, Prof. Dr. Robert Trotić, who has been advocating for the use of both hearing aids for several years.

– Hearing loss is irreversible. If we wear a hearing aid only in one ear, the other ear completely loses hearing. Our research has shown that individuals who use both hearing aids understand speech better and hear sounds more naturally. Bilateral hearing expands the hearing area from 180 to 360 degrees, and less amplification is needed. Two hearing aids achieve the so-called stereo effect, allowing a person to hear up to 12 meters away, while with one, only up to 3 meters. Additionally, the quality of life is immeasurably better as cognitive and intellectual abilities of the person with hearing impairment are not compromised. I urge you to support the joint effort aimed at the long-term well-being of individuals with hearing problems, warned Robert Trotić, president of the Croatian Society for Audiology and Phoniatrics.

Trotić called for action to prevent hearing impairment from escalating into a public health problem of broader proportions.

Guests were also provided with a unique experience as they listened to the introductory part of the ceremony with a reduced hearing capacity of 30 dB, using Earwear hearing protection, which served to experience how limiting even a minor hearing impairment can be, which under Croatian standards is not sufficient for prescribing a hearing aid with an allowance.

The company Neuroth hearing aids operates in Croatia through 8 hearing centers where users have access to the most technologically advanced hearing aids, and another hearing center is expected soon in Zagreb, as well as one in Zadar. With these openings, 10 years of operation in Croatia will symbolically be rounded off to 10 branches. Neuroth continues its operations in Croatia with its uncompromising quality example, where raising awareness about the need for early diagnosis and timely action will be a top priority. The ceremonial marking of the two important anniversaries concluded with Neuroth’s slogan – Better hearing, better living.
