LUMEN platform produced winners in four categories

The finals of the LUMEN platform, the largest student competition organized by four different teams within eSTUDENT, were held. Students competed in the field of business in the LUMEN Business category, data analysis in the LUMEN Data science category, programming in the LUMEN Development category, and electrical engineering in the LUMEN Engineering category.

– This is the first year we managed to hold the finals of all four LUMEN competitions at the same time in the same place. We are very pleased with the turnout and have surpassed the number of applications from last year – said Paula Štefanek, coordinator of the Project management group and vice president of eSTUDENT, confirming that the LUMEN platform received over 200 applications.

That LUMEN is recognized in the region is confirmed by the application and victory of L'Oreal’s business case at LUMEN Business, which was won by students from Belgrade, who took home the grand prize of 10,000 kuna.

– I was pleased to collaborate with colleagues studying marketing and management. The project is phenomenal, and the timeline was excellent, allowing us to fit into the program and come to Zagreb – said Stefan Jovanov from Metropolitan University.

Second place in the LUMEN Business category was won by psychology student Marija Vlahović, who, along with her team, was awarded 5,000 kuna.

– We had a great opportunity to gain new knowledge and insights, and this experience will certainly help me in finding a job in the marketing sector that I wish to pursue – said Marija.

The victory in the LUMEN Data science category was won by the team of Ene Aničić, while in the LUMEN Engineering competition, the victory was claimed by FER students Nikola Tomažin and Lovro Krčelić. Both teams won a prize of 15,000 kuna.

– We had the theme of a gesticulator, an application for interactive learning of sign language through quizzes. Participating in LUMEN Engineering is a great opportunity for us to get started, and we will realize the project with the Croatian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, who are interested in continuing the collaboration – said Nikola and Lovro.

The LUMEN platform was concretized by eSTUDENT in collaboration with numerous partners who offer proactive students real challenges faced by their businesses in their own work.

– eSTUDENT is one of the more organized and complex student associations, which prompted us to collaborate and partner. The LUMEN competition is a good opportunity to meet competent future employees of our company – said Ilija Leko from operations and business development at the startup PhishAR.
