Pilot Project: Ericsson Nikola Tesla and OIV Introduce Private 5G Network

As part of a pilot project in collaboration between Ericsson Nikola Tesla and the company Odašiljači i veze (OIV), a private 5G network has been introduced in a factory in Šibenik-Knin County. This enables reliable wireless mobile technology for various types of devices that were previously connected via wired or Wi-Fi.

Device networking ensures more efficient management of the factory’s warehouse and better information flow, as well as improvements in production process management.

– 5G technology is a milestone of a new industrial revolution and will be crucial for the further development of society, and this project was initiated to gain additional experience in this network of the future – said Mate Botica, CEO of OIV. OIV introduced the first private 5G network a few months ago in the AD Plastik factory in Zagreb.

– The ICT industry is the foundation for accelerated development in all segments of human activity, and it can significantly enhance industrial processes. The achievement of Industry 4.0 will be greatly contributed by private 5G networks. In the factories of the future, which are increasingly emerging every day, intelligently networked machines will elevate the production process to a whole new level. With such solutions, we reduce costs and increase productivity while enabling essential flexibility in response to market demands. I am proud of the high level of knowledge and competencies that the experts from Ericsson Nikola Tesla strongly contribute to this project, as well as others that lay the foundations for the future Industry 4.0 in Croatia – emphasized Gordana Kovačević, President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla.
