It Is Difficult to Predict the Future of the Energy Sector. Or Is It Not?

Predicting the future is difficult; analysts and consultants have been developing complex models for years in an attempt to discern what the future of business holds. Business forecasting involves grounded speculation about certain business metrics, regardless of whether they reflect specific business characteristics such as sales growth or forecasts for the economy as a whole. Financial and operational decisions are made based on economic conditions and how the future looks, even though it is uncertain.

Revolution Is Already Happening

While the variables for individual sectors remain uncertain, so too does what the future holds for them; in energy, there is no dilemma: the energy (r)evolution is happening right now. The energy system powered by fossil fuel combustion has reached its limits, especially due to new geopolitical reasons that have further intensified important issues of supply security and diversification of the energy mix. Adding to this is the EU’s ‘Green Deal’ and ambitious decarbonization goals by 2050, all pointing to the fact that it is the right time for good energy.

To meet the growing demand, which is projected to increase by 28 percent in the energy sector by 2040, we must today address all these important questions. Although we already know the answers, they are neither quick nor simple, and they require exceptional investments in new technologies, commitments from financial institutions to finance low-carbon projects and renewable energy projects, as well as the right incentives and cooperation from governments in supporting low-carbon technologies and companies that implement the green energy transition with their products and solutions, which has become one of the fundamental social issues.

Solar Potential of Croatia

In addressing one of humanity’s most complex challenges, the green energy transition, E.ON plays an active role in 17 markets where its 72,000 experts connect as much as 80,000 MW from renewable energy sources to its energy networks, which are the backbone of this transition. In the Croatian market, E.ON’s strength lies in partnerships with households and business community customers where solar potential is utilized to enable customers to have independent, economical, and sustainable energy supply by installing solar power plants on a ‘turnkey’ basis with financing options for business customers.

With customers who have entrusted him to be their energy partner, such as Valamar Riviera, Pliva, Žito Group, Bauhaus, Gavrilović, Atlantic Group, and other industry leaders and sustainability pioneers, E.ON is working to realize the solar potential of the Croatian market and shapes it together with them.
