DHL and Eco-Friendly Fashion Brand Mykke Hofmann Launch ‘Forever Pieces’ Collection

DHL and Mykke Hofmann (an eco-friendly fashion brand based in Munich) are jointly launching a fashion capsule collection called „Forever Pieces“, which boasts a long lifecycle for clothing. This unique collection has been available since May 16, 2022, at www.MykkeHofmann.com.

The collection emerged from a fashion competition organized last autumn through social media by DHL and Mykke Hofmann. A total of 848 fashion enthusiasts from 80 countries participated. From the 2,375 designs submitted, six designs were selected to create a collection consisting of a trench coat, blouse, trousers, dress, and two-piece set.

– The ‘Forever Pieces’ collection represents everything we associate with our vision of positive fashion. This competition embodies sustainability and thus combines sustainable production, circularity, and fair working conditions with long-lasting fashion, explains Arjan Sissing, Global Head of Brand Marketing at DHL.

The competition featured designers who are yet to establish themselves as well as fashion enthusiasts who eagerly embraced the opportunity to bring their sustainable fashion ideas to life. „The feedback from the competition exceeded all our expectations in terms of quantity and quality,” explains Jelena Hofmann, founder and CEO of Mykke Hofmann. „These comments show us how much the concept of sustainability means to the next generation of the fashion community.”

The winners of the competition were awarded a cash prize of 1,000 EUR and the opportunity to bring their garment to life as a forever piece.

– It is important to design fashion in an eco-friendly way, and this competition allowed me to do just that,” says winner Marta Soloducha about her motivations for participating. A fashion student from Warsaw, she designed a trench coat whose versatility makes it part of this innovative collection. This piece of clothing can be worn not only as a coat but also as a blazer or skirt when worn separately.  Micaela Clubourg, a young designer from Argentina currently living in Spain, created a unique two-piece set that is included in the ‘Forever Pieces’ collection.

The fabric from which the trousers are made was utilized down to the smallest piece, while the top stands out with its timeless design. Other winners include Gaia Stollo from Italy, who created classic trousers,  Yolanda Patricia Cabarcas, originally from Colombia, who currently works as a freelance artist in Milan and designed a timeless blouse, and Camilla Pane from Italy, who designed a transitional little black dress.  Like the rest of the Mykke Hofmann collection, the entire ‘Forever Pieces’ collection is produced in a factory in Serbia where workers are provided with stable incomes and fair working conditions. All workers receive a salary that is 50 percent higher than the average, and they are provided with professional equipment as health and safety are a priority.

The goal of the garments in the collection is to be timeless and to transcend current trends, ensuring their long wearability. By purchasing a product, customers are awarded a warranty certificate in the form of a climate-neutral NFT to extend the wearability of the clothing with certain repairs. The NFT is stored in a digital wallet on the blockchain, meaning the warranty cannot be lost.

All proceeds from the sale of the collection go to SOS Children’s Villages, the world’s largest non-profit organization focused on supporting children without parental care and families in danger. DHL has been a partner of SOS Children’s Village since 2010 as part of the Deutsche Post DHL Group.
