Socially Responsible, Sustainable and Digital – Key Segments of Dell’s Business

In the modern business world, one thing is certain – it is always subject to significant changes, as well as the emergence of new trends that require rapid adaptation from companies. Looking back over the past few years, we have explored how these trends often revolve around three concepts: socially responsible, sustainable, and digital. This is not surprising given that technology has been developing at lightning speed since its inception, enabling numerous companies to devise new ideas and innovations through which they contribute to the community while preserving nature and the environment in which they operate. One such company is Dell Technologies.

About the Solar Community Hubs Program

Dell is typically associated with powerful innovative devices and laptops, but behind this big name lies much more than that. Dell Technologies is making significant efforts in socially responsible business by developing smart solutions and projects such as Solar Community Hubs program. This is a large project that will be implemented on three continents, providing less developed communities with access to electricity through solar-powered hubs. Additionally, residents in these hubs will have access to drinking water, healthcare, education, and resources for environmental preservation. It is planned that Dell, together with its partners, will build 25 such hubs as part of this program, aiming to meet all necessary conditions for creating a financially stable community.

Dell Solar Community Hub

The First Hub in the Heart of the Amazon

As part of the commendable Solar Community Hubs program, the first such solar-powered hub has found its place in Boi Esperanca, Brazil. Each hub addresses the individual needs of the local community, and this one in Boi Esperanca is fully adapted for the settlements of the indigenous Amazonian population living along the river. What exactly does this hub contain? First and foremost, the design follows sustainability trends, meaning it is built from recycled materials such as wood, shipping containers, and sustainably produced furniture powered by solar energy. Furthermore, the hub provides access to technological tools from Dell Technologies such as computers – both laptops and desktops, servers, projectors, and Wi-Fi network access. Thanks to this project, residents of the Amazon region will be able to continue their education and work through digital technologies without the need for long travels to major cities in Brazil.

The Sustainability Trend in Devices – Concept Luna and Latitude 5000 Series

Following its vision of sustainable and socially responsible business, Dell Technologies has also created innovations in the smart device segment. A significant breakthrough has been made with the development of a revolutionary technological model – Concept Luna which represents an innovative and modular design for laptops. These devices use significantly more accessible components with the possibility of easy replacement or reuse for production, and it is expected that this conceptual solution will reduce the negative environmental impact by as much as 50%. The use of recycled materials is also evident in the latest Latitude 5000 series which holds the title of the most sustainable laptops.

Dell Technologies is an excellent example of a modern company because, in addition to continuously developing the most revolutionary technology and devices, it follows trends in socially responsible and sustainable business for a better and greener future.
