Sustainable Finance: ESG – Environmental, Social and Governance Criteria in Non-Financial Reporting

Non-financial reporting is becoming an increasingly common topic, especially since 2018 when it became mandatory for all large companies that are public interest entities and for all companies with more than 500 employees.

In the future, this topic will be mentioned even more frequently, as from 2024 it will also become mandatory for small and medium-sized enterprises as well as all financial institutions and companies. This will be a key prerequisite for financing various projects.

To timely learn everything necessary about ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) reporting, Lider, in collaboration with ATD Solutions, organized the 'Sustainable Finance' conference, whose main theme will be environmental, ESG – social and governance criteria in non-financial reporting. The conference will be held on June 8, 2022, at the Kraš Auditorium in Zagreb, starting at 9:30 AM.

The primary intention of the conference is to provide answers to key questions that companies are pursuing towards sustainable development while respecting all current regulations, directives, and guidelines. Some of these questions relate to non-financial reporting and how companies and financial services can prepare for it, as well as when it becomes a legal obligation.

Conference participants will answer questions such as how ESG affects creditworthiness, interest rates, and similar issues, as well as its role in attracting employees. The question of how to steer a company towards sustainable and socially responsible business practices, green transition, and low-carbon printing will not be overlooked.

These are all unavoidable topics for numerous companies that will be discussed by Marija Pujo Tadić, President of the International Institute for Climate Activities, Ksenija Petričević, Director of the Capital Market Supervision Sector at HANFA, and Nikolina Markota Vukić, President of IDOP.

The ease of reporting on environmental goals of the EU taxonomy will be presented by Andreja Pavlović, Head of the Institute for Nature Conservation and Landscape at OIKON, and the discussion will include Mirna Marović from VentureXchange, BAT Adria, and Višnja Mrakovčić Supek from EBRD.

Renata Brkić, Founder and Partner at Feelsgood Capital Partners, will speak about the social criterion, which has become the invisible heart of the market, while Gordana Kovačević from Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Martina Dalić from Podravka, and Josip Lasić from Končar will participate in the discussion on this topic.

The final presentation at the conference will relate to governance criteria and the responsibility of company management, which will be discussed by Lucia Ana Tomić from Weiner Insurance VIG. The discussion will include Neven Vranković from Atlantic Group and Antonija Zorić from ATD Solutions.

The EU directive on sustainable corporate governance and reporting is something that many companies are not sufficiently familiar with, and the same applies to the EU taxonomy and ESG reporting: these are key concepts that help in making correct financial decisions for companies.

The conference is an excellent opportunity for non-financial reporting obligors: all companies with more than 500 employees, companies or business entities of public interest, and the financial sector, as well as all companies listed on the Zagreb Stock Exchange. Medium and small companies for which non-financial reporting will become mandatory at a later date, as well as consulting firms and accounting services, are also welcome.

Representatives of the Government, as well as regional and local self-government, and non-profit organizations (NGOs) are invited.

Along with the relevant ministries and agencies, the conference is also useful for representatives of supporting institutions such as EBRD, HBOR, EIB, the World Bank, and many others.
