For enrollment in the new, seventh generation of participants in video game development education, this year 160 applications have been received at the Entrepreneurial Incubator PISMO in Novska, and there is also a long waiting list. In the incubator, they conducted written and oral testing and selected the 40 best candidates from all over Croatia who will learn to create, program, and graphically design games for free over the next six months as part of the Unity and Blender programs.
During the training, they receive the minimum Croatian salary and travel expenses from the Croatian Employment Service, and 66 percent of them are immediately employed upon completion.
– In six months, we teach participants to create video games, we teach them to work on products that have market potential, and we find them a job. This is the greatest benefit we achieve, and that is why our waiting list is very long. Because of it, we conduct testing to find the best candidates. This time we chose from more than 160 – said Andreja Šeperac, Deputy Director of the Development Agency SIMORA, which manages the PISMO incubator.
Participant Sonja Hranjec from Zagreb fulfilled one of her great wishes by enrolling in gaming education. She believes this is a good path to achieve the desired success in the gaming industry, which is advancing more every day.
– I checked them out before, I was at the Global Game Jam competition organized by PISMO and wanted to join this team. I can’t wait for the classes to start and the new challenges that education brings – said Hranjec, who is starting to learn to work in Unity.
The new generation of education participants will be mentored by the previous instructors Dominik Cvetkovski and Zvonimir Mikšić, who have sent 200 game developers to the labor market in the past three years.
