Huawei, a leading global technology company, actively supports the challenge by Ten Square Games (TSG), which encourages players of the most popular edition of the game Fishing Clash to participate in the action to save the Amazon on Earth Day. To adequately celebrate Earth Day, which we are globally marking today, the game’s developers encourage players to virtually clean the Amazon through one of the game’s modules, thereby helping to raise awareness about the protection of the biodiversity of the Amazon River. The TSG developers’ initiative will result in the planting of trees in designated locations. Developers further motivate users and players to participate through the slogan „The more we play, the more trees we plant“.
Fishing Clash app, which regularly ranks high in download numbers on AppGallery and Huawei’s GameCenter, was introduced last year as part of the initiative for World Water Day, aimed at raising awareness about extinct species and encouraging the cleaning of the world’s oceans. During the celebration of this year’s Earth Week, which is marked from April 18 to April 22, the Fishing Clash challenge takes players to an idyllic Amazon fishing village. The game is available to all owners of the latest flagship devices from the P50 series – P50 Pro and P50 Pocket, as well as users of the nova 9 SE smartphone.
Instead of fishing for exotic species of fish, players focus on cleaning the virtual riverbed of accumulated trash, and as announced by the developers from TSG, their achievements will be rewarded with tree planting in real communities. To help them assimilate as much as possible as part of the Amazon’s natural environment, players will be accompanied through the game by native animal species of the Amazon such as jaguar, monkey, and wolf, whose numbers have decreased due to habitat changes.
– Our commitment to increasing ecological awareness and promoting responsible behavior change through the use of modern technology is a top priority for Huawei. It is encouraging to see how activities in the gaming community can foster sustainable virtual habits that ultimately create a positive impact in real life. TSG’s Earth Day challenge embodies our core beliefs about active participation and helping to protect the environment, especially since by collecting points in the game and the virtual world, players accumulate donations that are converted into new trees planted within needy communities, said Jamie Gonzalo, Vice President of Huawei Mobile Services.
TSG’s initiative to use the Fishing Clash game to raise ecological awareness reflects and complements Huawei’s approach and actions in using technology to address climate change and environmental issues. Huawei has four strategies for sustainable development and responsible business that include principles of digital inclusion, security and credibility, environmental protection, and building a healthy and harmonious ecosystem.
