The Start It Up Competition Offers a Prize of 15,000 Kuna to the Winner

Entrepreneurship is a strong driver of every modern economy, and the innovative ideas coming from students provide an additional impetus for creating a fertile innovation environment. Start It Up 2022. is a project organized by the Croatian Student Association (HSA) aimed at young and future entrepreneurs with the main goal of education and providing financial assistance in starting their own startup.

Applications for the project are open and will last until April 18, with the entire event taking place live at Wespa Spaces, Heinzlova Street 60, which is also the general partner of the project. The first round of applications closes on April 11, while the second round lasts until April 18.

Competition, Education, and Challenge

During the project, participants have the opportunity to hear firsthand the theoretical and practical aspects of running their own startup and create a unique network of contacts in the international entrepreneurial scene. By applying for the competition, teams can implement their innovative idea into a real project and win the competition, securing a significant cash prize of 15,000.00 kuna.

Therefore, the organizers of this year’s Start It Up have enabled collaboration with representatives of renowned state institutions, entrepreneurs, independent investors, and representatives of entrepreneurial incubators such as Sintezis Startup Studio, Intercapital, Končar, and many others who will have the opportunity to contribute added value to the project in the roles of lecturers, jury members, and project partners.

The first part of the project will take place in the form of 4 educational, interactive workshops, while the final part of the project is designed as a student competition in front of jury members:

  • (23.04.) First Workshop – Establishing a Startup
  • (30.04.) Second Workshop – Raising Capital and Financial Resources
  • (7.05.) Third Workshop – Designing and Implementing a Marketing Plan
  • (14.05.) Fourth Workshop – Managing Financial Reports
  • (21.05.) Startup Final Competition

At the final competition, team members will have the opportunity to present their innovative idea in the form of 'pitch' to the jury members, and the best three teams will win a suitable cash prize that will serve as a springboard for establishing their own company.

Co-founder of the general partner and friend of the project Sintezis Startup Studio, Domagoj Bagarić, highlighted some of the greatest advantages of participating in the project and the values that Sintezis Startup Studio promotes.

– What we have recognized as a crucial factor in successful startups is determination and hard work in realizing the idea. Contestants will have the opportunity through the project to familiarize themselves with the most important steps and the biggest obstacles in realizing their ideas, while through practical workshops they will learn how to overcome those obstacles. Sintezis Startup Studio faces such challenges on a daily basis, and we are pleased to share part of that experience with the contestants – said Bagarić.

Additionally, the project sponsor InterCapital will present its new platform, Genius, an automated investment advisor that invests according to personal financial profiles. This investment advisor creates a personalized financial plan based on personal responses and provides an automatic investment service without fees – without the need for expert knowledge, market monitoring,  simply and with smaller amounts.
