Rajasthan is the largest state by area in India. Among Indian states, it is one of 'food providers', which is why it is not surprising that the agricultural industry had a high share of 29 percent in Rajasthan's GDP during 2020 and 2021. It ranks first in India for the production of mustard, garlic, and red gram, and is the second largest producer of oilseeds, cumin, and pulses. All this indicates the growing business opportunities in Rajasthan, especially in the segment of organic and contract production (cooperation) with farms, as well as in the development of agricultural infrastructure. The state is home to more than 850 factories in the food processing sector.
Additionally, it is the second state in India in terms of mineral production. It is the only producer of zinc and lead in the country and the largest producer of marble. Furthermore, Rajasthan can also boast of being the leading producer of limestone, copper ore, and silver. The state attracted around 54 million tourists in 2019, including foreign tourists, and ranks sixth in India for foreign tourist arrivals. The Largest Solar Park The potential for solar production in Rajasthan is estimated at 142 GW. Therefore, the Government of Rajasthan plans to systematically utilize solar energy in total energy production to achieve an ambitious target of 30 GW capacity by 2024 – 2025, which will transform the energy framework of the state and India. The initiative aims for far-reaching interventions at all levels of the production pyramid and throughout the supply chain, including all stakeholders, keeping in mind the opening of new jobs for youth.
Rajasthan leads the renewable energy sector in India with the largest installed capacity for solar production (over 10 GW), which accounts for 20 percent of national capacities. It is also among the top five states in India for power generation facilities. In this state, there is the largest fully operational solar park in the world with a capacity of 2245 MW in Bhadla, Jodhpur, covering an area of 5783 hectares. The Indian solar energy producer and power producer Azure Power recently announced that it has fully commissioned its solar energy project in Rajasthan, which is connected to the interstate transmission system (ISTS) of 300 megawatts (MW).
