Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated on Saturday that maintaining the credit rating at investment grade represents a message of confidence and encouragement that the Croatian Government will preserve economic stability despite inflation and the consequences of the war in Ukraine.
– The Standard & Poor's agency has maintained the credit rating at investment grade BBB- with stable outlooks, which is a message of confidence and encouragement that with the Government’s measures we preserve economic stability and stable growth, despite inflationary pressures and the consequences of the war – the Prime Minister wrote on Twitter.
The priority, he added, is the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and further absorption of European funds for faster development and the energy and green transition of Croatia.
Membership in the Eurozone that we wish to achieve in 2023 creates conditions for further strengthening the competitiveness of the economy and raising the credit rating, the Prime Minister emphasized.
The Standard & Poor's agency confirmed on Friday Croatia’s rating of 'BBB-/A-3' and stable outlooks, highlighting among the risks global geopolitical uncertainty due to Russian aggression in Ukraine which could affect global demand, tourism, and inflation.
Stable outlooks signal S&P’s expectations that the Croatian economy will grow at a stable pace over the next two years despite unfavorable inflationary trends and macroeconomic consequences of the war in Ukraine across Europe.
