That there is still animosity between billionaires Bill Gates and Elon Musk is confirmed by recent statements from the Microsoft founder, who dislikes the way Musk influences the public, especially cryptocurrency investors. As he stated in an interview with Bloomberg Technology, the public should think carefully before investing their money in purchasing cryptocurrencies, especially if they are prompted by Musk. He reminded that Musk’s immense wealth – with $229.1 billion, Musk is the richest man in the world, which allows him, according to Gates, to afford risky investments.
History of Disagreement
When asked by Bloomberg whether Musk could make more money investing in the crypto market than Tesla, Gates replied that ‘Elon has a lot of money and is very sophisticated, so he doesn’t think his Bitcoin will randomly rise or fall.’ He also noted that his goal is not to bash Bitcoin but believes that anyone with less money than Elon should simply be more cautious. The fact that Gates’ thesis holds water is evidenced by the fact that Musk is in a position to crash the value of the cryptocurrency market with a single word, or tweet.
In May 2021, Musk tweeted that Tesla would no longer accept Bitcoins, causing their value to drop by 15 percent. Shortly thereafter, in June, he reversed his decision, which caused the currency to rise by eight percent. This is not the first time these two billionaires have crossed swords. During the pandemic, the billionaires argued on social media about the epidemiological measures that Musk deemed excessive, and the danger of Covid-19 exaggerated. However, despite criticizing his public actions, Bill Gates once acknowledged that Musk should never be underestimated.
