By investing in employees, McDonald’s earns the Employer Partner certificate for the fourth consecutive time in 2022

Through desirable practices in human resource management, McDonald’s has earned the status of Employer Partner for the fourth consecutive year, becoming synonymous with a company that cares for its employees. According to an in-depth analysis by HR consultants from SELECTIO Group, McDonald’s has demonstrated an excellent strategy for human resource management, outstanding talent acquisition processes, and above-average performance management and employee development.

The development of the company is based on motivated employees

According to recent research, employees in Croatia are most often dissatisfied with opportunities for professional development at work, which is why they seek new jobs. Therefore, employers who choose to invest in employees retain motivated individuals who, over time, expand their skill set, better master tasks, and become more productive and satisfied. Employee education not only fosters a sense of value but also shows that the employer cares about the future of their team.

That is why we commend McDonald’s, which invested over 4.5 million kuna in employee education last year and provided 40 hours of training through mentorship for 2,271 workers in 2021. By reviewing McDonald’s HR practices, we saw that every employee is given the opportunity to attend training that is part of their development and talent management plan. Various training programs are available to employees, tailored depending on how long they have been working and their position. Internal training is also conducted at the national level, as well as training that takes place globally for all McDonald’s employees, and continuous training is conducted daily at all levels. These practices demonstrate that McDonald’s cares about the safety and future of its employees, which is more important today than ever before, stated Martina Kessler, Head of Organizational Development Solutions, Employer Partner.

– We are pleased to be recognized as an Employer Partner again this year. Our goal is to be a reliable employer in which employees see a partner with whom they can realize their full potential while achieving a balance between private and professional life. This certificate is a reminder of all the good we do, but also an incentive for further improvement, said Pavel Pavliček, director of McDonald’s Croatia.

Defined development goals for each employee

At McDonald’s, every employee has a development plan from day one, which provides guidelines for growth, development, and advancement. Initial training, mentors, follow-ups, share points, and support in learning are just some of the tools that McDonald’s uses to introduce employees to their jobs.

Interestingly, employee performance has been monitored since 1996 when the first McDonald’s opened in Croatia. Therefore, it is no surprise that clearly defined goals are set for each employee. Individual development plans are part of the talent management program that encompasses all employees recognized as having potential for advancement, stated Martina Kessler.

– This certificate is confirmation that we are on the right track and that we listen to the needs of our employees. We want to provide every employee with a pleasant and motivating work environment where effort and work are valued and rewarded, said Mario Jušić, head of human resources at McDonald’s.

For the Employer Partner certificate, caring for employees does not represent desirable practices but rather necessary practices.

– Caring for employees does not imply the introduction of a classic benefits package but rather an individual approach and response in accordance with current challenges. In order for a company to create a healthy and resilient work environment, it must actively listen to the needs of employees and respond by implementing appropriate measures to maintain satisfaction, health, and motivation. Every holder of the Employer Partner certificate is ready to face potential new crises and challenges, and the practices they implement best demonstrate their level of preparedness. That is why we highlight the practices of McDonald’s, which last year provided financial assistance to employees with damaged properties in areas affected by earthquakes, stated Martina Kessler.
