As the audience eagerly awaits Ridley Scott’s film ‘House of Gucci’, which will premiere in local cinemas on December 2, Airbnb has ensured that devoted fans of the fashion brand, as well as the story of the Gucci dynasty, can spend their vacation at an authentic film location. The magnificent Villa Balbiano, located on the western shore of Lake Como, which served as the set for the family home of the founder of the fashion house Guccio Gucci (played by Al Pacino), is now available through this global accommodation provider.
Prestigious Villa
Built in the 18th century, the palace was once owned by Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio and features six extravagant suites designed by the famous French decorator Jacques Garcia, known for decorating luxurious French locations such as Hotel Costes, Hotel Majestic, and the restaurant Fouquet’s. A fantastic garden with a pristine lawn and decorative fountains surrounds Villa Balbiano, and due to its exceptional historical restoration, it was awarded a prestigious prize by the British Society of Garden Designers in 2017.
The interior of the villa is adorned with original frescoes by the Recchi brothers and Agostino Silva, the furniture is decorated with marble, upholstered in velvet, crystal chandeliers hang from the ceilings, and the walls feature artworks acquired through Christie’s and Sotheby’s.
