Terezija Marić: From now on, documents will only be received electronically

– Entrepreneurs and citizens will now be able to address public authorities electronically – said Terezija Marić, head of the Department for Civil Status and Modernization of Administrative Procedures at the Ministry of Justice and Administration at the beginning of the third day of the '48 Hours.'

She spoke about the new Regulation on Office Operations, and the electronic document reception system must be established by January 1, 2023, at all levels of government in Croatia. As an annex to the regulation, the Ministry has developed technical specifications that define the basic functionalities, which include office operations. This does not mean that public authorities, especially during the initial adjustment period, will not receive submissions in physical form, but such documents, Marić emphasized, will be converted into electronic form.

– Communication electronically takes precedence over other forms of communication. The principle is that documents are primarily received electronically, and all documents will be recorded in the information system. Therefore, there will be no more books. If something is received in physical form, it must be converted into electronic form – said Marić.

This is the foundation of public administration reform because it will be known who received what, where the document is located, when it was resolved, and it will increase the transparency of public authorities, save material resources, and employee time.

On the continuation of the third day of the '48 Hours' conference, a round table on the topic 'Digital and Transparent' will be held, followed by a lecture on Sustainable Cities for Better Living, which will be presented by Natalia Panina.

Ivana Chaux Jukić from Active Solera will talk about the possibility of energy production from waste, after which a round table on waste energy will be held.

Tomislav Vrankić and Matija Pavlinek from Croatian Post will discuss parcel services.
