Croatian AI startup Mindsmiths is the recipient of the global Top of AI Startups award, presented by the Alliance for Responsible AI to projects that responsibly apply artificial intelligence. The domestic startup has been recognized as the best with its AI platform in a competition of 17 projects from over 10 countries.
Mindsmiths’ AI platform enables the creation of Autonomous Support Systems (ASS) that find responsible applications across various industries, from healthcare for chronic patients to financial advice for clients in the banking sector. To ensure the responsible use of AI, Mindsmiths adheres to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and the principles of trustworthy artificial intelligence development.
– “We believe that artificial intelligence is a tool that must be used for the good of humanity. Although there are threats associated with artificial intelligence, we are convinced that this technology must serve people. That is why we launched a competition that will recognize and reward startups working on projects for the benefit of society as a whole every year,” emphasized Juan Ignacio Rouyet, president of the organization We The Humans.
In second place was the startup from Russia and the UAE, Life Peak. This is a digital system that enables online monitoring and prediction of dangerous psycho-physical conditions for individuals. The top three is rounded out by the Spanish solution Insikt, which is working on developing AI models that allow organizations to gather intelligence on online activities directly related to terrorism, hate speech, extremism, radicalization, or human trafficking.
The Alliance for Responsible AI is an organization that includes several European associations that collectively support the development of safe, reliable, and inclusive applications of artificial intelligence technology. The organization’s goal is, among other things, to open a discussion with public institutions and bodies in Europe to ensure that artificial intelligence is inclusive and does not exclude any individual or group in its development.
To promote trustworthy AI solutions, the Alliance for Responsible AI established the Top of AI Startups award, aimed at recognizing initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence that follow the Ethical Guidelines for Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence of the European Commission.
Members of the organization include We The Humans, Global AI Ethics Institute, Beyond the Horizon, and Futurous.
