Mirko Mrakužić, director of dm: We have confirmed our leadership position and achieved 2.36 billion kuna in revenue

Members of the Management Board of dm today presented the business results for 2020/2021 at a press conference held at Matis Absolute Lounge and online. The director of dm, Mirko Mrakužić, emphasized that the company achieved a revenue of 2.36 billion kuna in 2021, representing a growth of 4.47 percent. Positive business development continued in the over-the-counter medical products segment, which grew by 19.18 percent. Mrakužić also reflected on 25 years of dm’s operations in Croatia and spoke about new business plans.

– In the year we marked the 25th anniversary of our operations in Croatia, we confirmed our leadership position in the Croatian drugstore market. We invested 67.5 million kuna in the modernization of 14 stores, the opening of five stores, and seven specialized departments for over-the-counter medical products, as well as in expanding the range and developing services in the dm online shop. We are particularly proud that from a small store on the outskirts of Zagreb, opened 25 years ago with eleven employees, we have grown to 164 stores with around 1680 employees – said Mrakužić.

He highlighted that dm plans new investments amounting to 73 million kuna, and next year will open five new stores, increase the product assortment, and expand the offerings in the online shop. Gordana Picek, procurator, head of procurement and marketing, pointed out that instead of celebrating 25 years of dm in Croatia, they donated money for the reconstruction of Petrinja, Glina, and Sisak affected by the earthquake.

– As part of the {TOGETHER} competition for Petrinja, Glina, and Sisak, we selected 32 projects in which we will invest more than four million kuna – says Picek. She added that dm donated five million kuna in 2021, and over the past 25 years, a total of 38 million kuna. She also spoke about the donations they are preparing for the next year and the success of the dm brand.

Human resources manager Ana Fostač-Krilčić emphasized that employees are the key to dm’s success, and she spoke about new hiring and volunteering. dm volunteers have volunteered 6588 days on 700 projects over ten years, which amounts to 52,704 hours of free labor. dm employees were financially rewarded on the occasion of the 25th anniversary, and the average salary in stores is 10,787 kuna. This company has also been selected as the best employer for the seventh consecutive year in a survey by the MojPosao portal.

– One way we care for our employees is by taking care of their physical and mental health. Our 54 health ambassadors educate colleagues about healthy habits, and this year, special emphasis was placed on mental health – says Fostač-Krilčić. She also highlighted that this year, the fourth generation of 58 participants completed education at the dm academy.

Davor Željko, head of logistics, pointed out that research from August and September of this year showed that dm is the customers’ favorite place to buy household products, while Dario Klemar, head of IT, finance, accounting, and controlling, spoke about innovations, especially in the IT field. He emphasized that the dm active beauty program has over a million users who, by collecting points in the past year, achieved savings of over 67 million kuna.
