765th Year Since the Mention of the Name Kutina

The name Kutina is first mentioned on November 10, 1256, in the Charter of the Hungarian-Croatian King Bela IV. On this occasion, a ceremonial session of the City Council of the City of Kutina was held on Wednesday, November 10, with guests from the Croatian Parliament, Sisak-Moslavina County, representatives of cities and municipalities in SMŽ and beyond, Deputy Mayor of Dimitrovgrad Yasha Minkov and a delegation from Dimitrovgrad, as well as representatives of the social, political, cultural, and economic life of the city of Kutina.

During the session, a film was shown featuring the most important achievements, the construction of a kindergarten and a multifunctional building, investments in roads, culture, social and other infrastructure, as well as tourist and other facilities. As emphasized by the envoy of the President of the Croatian Parliament Marijana Petir and the envoy of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Deputy County Prefect of SMŽ Mihael Jurić, Kutina is a leader in economic activity in SMŽ, and in recent years, investments in the economy and the creation of a positive business climate have intensified. In the last two years, about 20 private investments have been realized in the city itself, while the Industrial-Logistics Zone, as a strategic project of the City, offers the possibility of realizing projects that require a larger available area.

With four entrepreneurial zones and one industrial-logistics zone, Kutina aims to enhance its status as a City of Technology and attract young people to stay and come. It is important to highlight that since 2017, with the efforts of Mayor Zlatko Babić, one of the larger companies in Kutina, Ziegler, opened its production facility in Kutina with about 100 employees.

– Despite the pandemic, economic growth has not stopped, and similar results are being recorded in Kutina today. The current value of projects in realization exceeds 600 million kuna, and I hope that we will continue, with support, cooperation, and teamwork, to create Kutina tailored to every Kutinčan – said Mayor Zlatko Babić at the ceremonial session.

As part of the City of Kutina Day on November 10, the Tourist Board of the City of Kutina illuminated buildings in the city center, allowing visitors to see the Museum of Moslavina, the Gallery of the Museum of Moslavina, the chestnut park, and the city administration in a new light. The chestnut park was the center of illumination, where each illuminated tree created a beautiful shining gallery in the open air.

In the very center of the park, visitors could enjoy a pleasant atmosphere with a musical gastro corner, which included gourmet delicacies made from chestnuts, allowing them to taste chestnut mousse and wine as well as chestnut lollipops. Mulled wine and tea enriched the gastro corner’s offerings, which provided a good backdrop for the musical accompaniment of young musicians. They also had the opportunity to create beautiful photographs for memories in one of the three installed luminous domes. The Museum of Moslavina and the Gallery of the Museum of Moslavina were open and free for all visitors during this period, and at the same time, they could join the release of wish lanterns organized by the Sandra Stojić Foundation in Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square.
