Lider invest 2021: The Best Manufacturing Investments in Croatia Announced

The 100% Lider invest award for the best manufacturing investments in Croatia 2021 was won by the companies LNG Hrvatska, Press Glass, Rasco, and Oprema.

At the ceremonial closing event of Lider invest, a project aimed at promoting investments that create new jobs, increase exports, and generate additional value, held on Tuesday at the Westin hotel in Zagreb, special recognitions were also awarded, including one in memory of the prematurely deceased Slavko Krajcar, a professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing and a member of the expert jury of Lider invest.

100% Lider invest – the best large, medium, and small investments

The best large manufacturing investment in Croatia in 2021. According to the assessment of the expert jury of Lider invest led by Professor Mladen Vedriš, the €234 million investment by LNG Hrvatska in the construction of a terminal and the conversion of an FSRU ship in Omišalj on Krk. The award was received by the director of LNG Hrvatska, Hrvoje Krhen.

In the category of the best medium manufacturing investments this year, two awards were given. The first was awarded to the company Press Glass from Jalžabet for its investment in equipment to increase production capacity. In the investment cycle that has been ongoing since 2018, this glass manufacturer has invested a total of 34 million kuna. The second award in this category was won by the municipal equipment factory Rasco from Kalinovac for its investment worth nearly 100 million kuna in increasing production capacities. The awards were received by Igor Vlahović, CEO of Press Glass, and Ivan Franičević, CEO of Rasco.

A project worth more than seven million kuna for research and development of a new smart eco product carried out by the company Oprema from Ludbreg in collaboration with the Technical College of Zagreb is the best small manufacturing investment. At the awards ceremony, the award was received by Tomislav Cvetko, a member of the Management Board of Oprema.

Special Lider invest

Special recognitions from the Expert Committee of Special Lider invest were awarded to the Pharmacy of Split-Dalmatia County, which invested over 100 million kuna in the construction of a galenic-analytical laboratory in Dugopolje, for promoting regional development, and the company Solvis from Varaždin received recognition for sustainable development for its investment worth nearly two million kuna in introducing new IT solutions into business processes. The award was received by Ante Mihanović, director of the Pharmacy of Split-Dalmatia County. Representatives from Solvis were unable to attend the ceremony.

Slavko Krajcar Award

This year, for the first time, a special Lider invest recognition for technological innovations and exports named after Professor Slavko Krajcar is being awarded. This recognition was presented to the directors of the company Eonex Marko Varga and Tomislav Nikočević for an investment worth nearly 33 million kuna in a new production facility and equipment necessary for the production of an innovative osteosynthetic plate implant for more effective treatment of bone fractures.

Recognitions for Employment and Sustainability

The Employee Lider invest 2021. recognition for the investment that contributed the most to employment was awarded to the company Bauwerk Group Hrvatska from Đurđevac, which invested over 135 million kuna in the construction of a facility for primary and final wood processing and the procurement of machinery. Thanks to these investments 160 new jobs were created. For this achievement, the award was received by Igor Benaković, CEO of Bauwerk Group Hrvatska.

The company Oprema also received the ECO Lider invest recognition for the investment that contributed the most to sustainable development and the quality of life of citizens as well as the protection of space and the environment. Specifically, the manufacturer of cooling and beverage dispensing devices from Ludbreg invested over two million kuna in a solar power plant to increase the energy efficiency of the company, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and delivered electricity by 44.71 percent. The award was received by Tomislav Cvetko, a member of the Management Board of Oprema.
