World Economic Forum (WEF) Plants a Trillion Trees and Seeks Companies to Join the Movement

Every year, the planet loses six billion trees. This endangers biodiversity and accelerates climate change, resulting in incalculable damage that the World Economic Forum (WEF) has decided to address with a new project – the Trillion Tree Platform, which aims to conserve and plant a trillion trees by 2030. According to the project’s website, they need the help of companies, governments, non-profit organizations, and individuals, whom they invite to join the initiative.

They are asking companies to engage with the 1t.org platform and their community of experts, innovators, and partners in the Corporate Alliance, where they can find all the necessary knowledge, experience, and practices related to reforestation.

Planet Wellbeing

As WEF continues, the practice of modern reforestation began with the Green Belt Movement project initiated by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Wangari Maathai. She launched an initiative to plant millions of trees in Kenya and demonstrated that such projects improve the quality of life for residents in those areas, enhance their equality, and increase food accessibility. Following Maathai’s example, some world governments have decided to launch reforestation initiatives, with Canada committing to plant two billion trees, while Pakistan, together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), initiated the Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project.

Eco-entrepreneurs and activists around the world are trying to find ways to save forests in their surroundings, and the fact that, as ecology experts have warned, there is a significant delay in implementing initiatives to save the planet from the consequences of pollution and climate change has prompted WEF to elevate the reforestation action to a higher level and encourage individuals, companies, and governments through its new platform to roll up their sleeves and do something good for their own benefit and the wellbeing of the entire planet.
