Hangar 18: The NOA brand is still for sale, but the bankrupt company does not pay for device servicing

Although the company Hangar 18 went bankrupt last year, its brand NOA is still for sale. Mario Kralj, the owner of Hangar 18, did not respond to our inquiry to explain how a bankrupt company is marketing devices in accordance with legal obligations regarding warranty provision for them.

According to unofficial information, it is being sold by Smartphone and Tablet Service (STS), a company that serviced mobile phones, tablets, and televisions for Hangar 18 before the bankruptcy, but Matija Zadravec, the director of STS, claims they have not taken over anything from Hangar 18.

– We would gladly take over the brand and stock to strengthen our own business, but that has not yet come to the 'agenda' in bankruptcy. Otherwise, we do not engage in retail, STS was partially an importer of NOA products because when the Hangar was blocked, that company could not access new products. But that was not any takeover. Sales continued through Hangar, and the result is that we incurred losses from all of this. So the stories that we took over its business and representations abroad sound like science fiction – explains Zadravec.

Zadravec emphasizes that NOA has always been a large and important brand for STS, and the collaboration with Hangar, specifically the maintenance of NOA devices, was a great opportunity for the company because as NOA expanded, so did the base for that service.

– We still service products from multiple brands, including NOA, but only when someone is willing to pay for it, as Hangar in bankruptcy refuses to do so. So for us, Hangar’s problems were certainly not good news, and we tried to participate in its restructuring to protect our own business. Unfortunately, we exposed ourselves to some of Hangar’s creditors to enable its continued operation, but nothing came of it. So today, some creditors are knocking on our door because of Hangar’s debts – explains Zadravec.
