Mihael Furjan: We would like the Labor Act to go into parliamentary procedure before mid-2022.

Among the many recognizable names in the economic and political life of the country that will find their place at this year’s Leader’s Day of Big Plans, there will be Mihael Furjan. Over the past twelve years, this business gathering has become a hallmark of Leader’s conferences, bringing together around 4,300 participants and two hundred speakers, mostly leaders from various industries and prominent figures from political and public life. With measures to preserve jobs, Furjan states that the Croatian Employers’ Association (HUP) is satisfied, as well as with the cooperation with the Government in this regard, and continues that the Government has done a lot in terms of tax relief for both companies and employees. He expects the continuation of such a trend and notes that it is essential to adopt a quality Labor Act, the drafting of which they hope for as soon as possible, given the significance of the Labor Act for the economy.

– We would like the Labor Act to go into parliamentary procedure before mid-2022, as announced, i.e., the legal regulation of numerous institutes within the Labor Act as soon as possible, such as remote work, for example. With a quality Labor Act, we will raise the overall competitiveness of our country – appeals Furjan.

Regarding the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, Furjan believes that HUP has been constructive in its proposals for what it considers, in combination with the Multiannual Financial Framework of the European Union, during the generation for Croatia.

– Given the demographic challenges, we need jobs. To create 60,000 to 100,000 quality jobs, we need to secure between 10 and 12 billion euros in investments in the private sector. We expect that through the rebalancing of the Recovery Plan, we will continue to manage this program, so we hope that we will approach these changes in a partnership manner and that the Government will include us in consultations from the very beginning so that a larger number of funds can be directed to the private sector, which is the only generator of growth and development in society. We all want a better society, higher wages, better jobs, and this is only achievable with growth based on a healthy economy that is self-sustainable and capable of continuous growth and development – concludes Furjan.
