The professional undergraduate study of Information Technology Application in Business (PITUP) at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics of the University of Zagreb will offer new directions for enrollment in the second year starting next academic year – Application Development and IT Support for Business. In addition, the number of elective courses has increased, with classes modernized and aligned with labor market needs.

The study program Application Development is the foundation for the application of information technology in modern organizations, and by choosing it, students will easily integrate into teams that develop applications in various domains. On the other hand, the IT Support for Business direction provides knowledge for effective communication that will facilitate the introduction and application of software support in business.

For the PITUP study, for which enrollment quotas are filled every year, the greatest interest is among students in Varaždin, while for other FOI professional centers in Zabok, Križevci, and Sisak, interest is highest among part-time students.

As emphasized by Marina Klačmer Čalopa, vice-dean for business and human resources at FOI, when training students for future business careers in IT, important are work-based learning and problem-solving, with an emphasis on developing students’ critical thinking and continuous development of study programs in collaboration with employers.

– Employers have recognized the knowledge and skills of our students, so this year the digital agency ecx.io, which operates within the IBM iX group, in collaboration with the Faculty of Organization and Informatics of the University of Zagreb, decided to sponsor the tuition for as many as three freshmen who will enroll in the professional study of Information Technology Application in Business (PITUP) at the professional center in Sisak for the academic year 2021/2022.
