EQTEC, a waste-to-energy company based in Ireland, together with Croatian project partner Sense ESCO, has finalized the purchase of the plant in Belišće and will put it into operation by the end of 2022.

The gasification cogeneration plant powered by biomass with a capacity of 1.2 megawatts was built in 2016 and already had EQTEC’s gasification technology installed. However, the plant will now be refurbished and equipped with the latest technology that converts wood waste into electrical and thermal energy. The estimated value of this investment is €1.7 million.

—– The plant in Belišće will be a market development center (MDC) and is one of several European waste-to-energy plants where we will install our latest technology – said David Palumbo, CEO of EQTEC, who recently announced that the first such center will be in Tuscany, Italy.

It is expected that the Slavonian plant will produce approximately 1.2 MW of green electricity annually from 8,000 tons of wood chips and biomass from regional forests and generate a pre-tax profit of around €850,000 per year.
