Crypto Exchange FTX Launches NFT Platform with Dolphin Entertainment

Crypto exchange FTX is partnering with Dolphin Entertainment to launch a marketplace for sports and entertainment non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

– We are more than excited to partner with Dolphin Entertainment to create an NFT marketplace for major sports and entertainment brands – tweeted FTX yesterday.

The marketplace will also include NFTs related to film, television, music, gaming, and eSports, among others.

– Dolphin’s reach and scale across pop culture are very impressive to us – said Brett Harrison, president of FTX’s U.S. subsidiary.

He reportedly added that the exchange is excited to work with Dolphin, hinting that there are several items on the horizon that they can’t wait to launch together. Bill O’Dowd, CEO of Dolphin Entertainment, similarly reacted to his company’s partnership with FTX.

– Our joint offering is different from the rest of the market and, most importantly, it immediately puts NFTs on equal footing with all other consumer products available for purchase online – O’Dowd reportedly said.

NFTs and sports have already established a significant connection in most of the world’s major sports.

The NBA has undoubtedly led the way with NBA Top Shot, a collectible craze for NFT and crypto enthusiasts. The NBA team Golden State Warriors also released an NFT collection, doing so in April of this year.

Major stars in the NFL have followed suit, with Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and the Manning brothers releasing NFTs. In MLB, Red Sox legend Ted Williams has his own NFT, and in the UFC, current heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has made more money from selling NFTs than from fighting for the title against Stipe Miocic.
