Since construction has not felt the impact of the corona crisis too much, neither has the crane rental market faltered. Moreover, rental prices have jumped by five to ten percent in the last year or two, while other services (assembly, disassembly…) have increased even more, and given that interlocutors predict a continuation of construction activity growth, they could rise further.
Among the largest crane rental companies in Croatia are Ferokov Cranes Croatia, Eurokran, Trlin, Salona Mont, and Grgamont, but there are others that primarily cover local areas. Although the holiday season has begun and perhaps that is why none of them responded to emails, some did agree to talk. However, they did not want to discuss crane rental prices, but indirectly we managed to find out what they are. They range from 1,000 euros to 4,500 euros per month, depending on the height of the crane, the length of the ‘arm’, and the load capacity. However, as noted by the crane rental companies we managed to speak with, this is only for the rental of the crane. Additional services are charged separately, with the most important being assembly and disassembly, which involves three to five skilled workers, as well as crane transport, which is also expensive. An interlocutor who wished to remain anonymous confirmed that all of this is included in the price and provided several examples.
Mileage Plays a Role
The current price for cranes with higher load capacities, for example, those 40 meters high and with a ‘arm’ length of 50 meters and a load capacity of over two tons, is above 30,000 kuna (including VAT). However, as mentioned, transport and assembly and disassembly are additionally charged on these rental prices, which costs the construction company renting the crane an additional up to 170,000 kuna (including VAT). Of course, the price is not fixed and depends on performance and transport distance, as it is not the same to transport a crane 300 kilometers or to a location 30 kilometers away.
