Zagreb’s Dukat, the largest milk buyer in Croatia, has launched the communication platform Dedicated to Milk Since 1912, emphasizing its unique value and strength – nearly 110 years of commitment to domestic dairy farming, as stated in the announcement.
Dukat is the pioneer of organized milk purchasing, which it initiated in 1912 in the Zagreb area. Today, Dukat is one of the most significant companies in the domestic food sector and the largest milk buyer in Croatia, with over 2,000 cooperatives – milk producers across the country.
A specific feature of Dukat is its collaboration with small milk producers, who make up about 50% of Dukat’s cooperatives. By supporting and empowering small farmers, Dukat contributes to the development of dairy farming and the sustainability of life in rural parts of Croatia.
In the past year, Dukat purchased 185 million kilograms of milk, which is 43 percent of the total quantities offered for purchase in the country, of which 95% is milk of the highest quality, known as EU standard.
The seriousness, reliability, and commitment of Dukat to dairy farming are recognized by milk producers, from generation to generation, across the country. Dukat purchases milk in 15 counties, with the largest quantities of fresh milk being bought in the Osijek-Baranja and Bjelovar-Bilogora counties.
