Tomo Horvatinčić said goodbye to friends on Tuesday and informed them that starting Wednesday he will reside in Remetinec, where he will await the resolution of his sixth appeal seeking a postponement of his sentence. In the past period, he has been preparing for his imprisonment, serving a sentence of four years and ten months for a maritime accident that resulted in the deaths of two people ten years ago. Despite his lawyers’ appeals against the court decision rejecting yet another postponement, the entrepreneur has taken all measures to ensure that his business can operate without him.
He has appointed his son Krešimir Horvatinčić as director of his companies HOTO ZRINJEVAC, HOTO CVJETNI, and HOTO ISTRA. He remains in his director positions, as he continues to lead the umbrella HOTO GROUP as CEO, but his son has been a member of the Management Board since 2018, allowing the business to function without additional personnel changes.
Krešimir Horvatinčić (47) has been a manager at HOTO GROUP since 2012, working in marketing during the construction of the Cvjetni Shopping Center, and his father included him in his hotel and restaurant business Babylon in Sveti Nedelja back in 1993, right after he graduated from the Hospitality and Tourism School. In the meantime, he completed his studies in marketing and communications at the Zagreb School of Economics and Management in 2017.
