The Hungarian Investment Banker Joins Zagreb-Montaža

Alongside the Sesvete-based IG Group the Hungarian investment banker Janoš Bartha, with extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments, has formally joined the ownership of Zagreb-Montaža in recent days. Recall that a few months ago, the small Sesvete company IG Niskogradnja purchased a 50 percent stake in Zagreb-Montaža from the Inspirio FGS fund, and the owner of IG Group Ilija Barišić announced at that time that a foreign partner would also enter the company. Today, 51 percent of the ownership in Zagreb-Montaža is held by Barišić and Janoš Bartha (through the company IGn Ferrum, where they are both 50 percent owners, with Bartha’s name registered under the company Ferrum Invest Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság, and the Barišić family’s name under IG Niskogradnja), 36 percent of the ownership is controlled by Šibenik entrepreneur Vlado Čović through the company Industrial Group, while the remaining portion is in the hands of small shareholders.

According to Ilija Barišić, the new partner in Zagreb-Montaža, he has known Janoš Bartha for some time, which led them to the idea of jointly investing in Zagreb-Montaža.

– The restructuring of the company has already begun, and we are currently working on optimizing operations. Our plan is to focus on projects with higher value, such as energy facilities – announced Barišić.

Otherwise, Janoš Barth, Barišić’s new partner, began his career at the National Bank of Hungary in 1986, then served as a director at Credit Suisse First Boston, and in 1994 became the head of Credit Suisse First Boston for Central and Eastern Europe. Eighteen years ago, he founded the company Barthpartners, and in 2020, he joined the supervisory board of GTC, a company engaged in real estate development, which is best known in Croatia for its investment in the Avenue Mall shopping center.
